New cage material gives higher load
NSK says the combination of a new cage material and an increased roller complement has enabled it to produce a cylindrical roller bearing which offers up to 20% higher load capacity, quieter operation (up to 7db lower) and lower temperature running than conventional bearings of the same size. The company says that the increased number of larger roller elements can be accommodated due to the new cage design, which results in a greater radial load capacity without any reduction in axial load capacity. This also gives an improvement in the unit?s theoretical operating life by as much as 70 per cent, says NSK. Lower running temperatures are achieved by greater guidance provided by the roller guiding areas within the cage, which reduces skewing of the rollers. The new cage design also reduces vibration within the bearings resulting in quieter running, says the company. The EW series bearings are designed for use in gearboxes and large kilowatt electric motors and are available in three rib configurations NU, NJ and NUP 205-213 and 305-311.
