Web-based inspection reports
Classification society ABS has launched a Web-based container information system for tank owners involved in the transportation of dangerous liquids and gases which, it says, provides quick access to inspection reports. Called E-CIS, it is available on the ABS website at www.eagle.org in the products and services category. The Oracle-based program has a password protected log-in for clients who need verification that a tank container is not out of date or who want to track their periodic inspections. The program also allows for on-the-spot printing of reports for a specific tank container to show proof that it has passed the required statutory inspection, says ABS. The tracking capability feature records tank container information gathered through the periodic survey so owners have an up-to-date picture as to the condition of their fleet including the recorded details of the pressure relief valves, test pressures and corrosion and pitting, says ABS.
