Saab signs Hong Kong deal

Saab TransponderTech has won an order to cover the Hong Kong area with its automatic identification system (AIS). The company has delivered six fully redundant R30 AIS base stations to the Marine Department in Hong Kong. The system will have full AIS coverage of the entire port area, says Saab. The system, which is in the process of being installed, will give the Vessel Traffic Service system the ability to identify, track and serve the transponder-equipped ships in the area.
