Underwater coating repair

Jones Marine is continuing development of its JML 2000 underwater coating system, with an application containing anti-fouling properties among its goals. Talking to The Motor Ship, Jones Marine managing director Mike Jones said the JML 2000 system is designed to effect repairs to areas of small-scale coating damage, for instance damage caused by a vessel dragging its anchor chain along the hull. As it can be applied underwater, it eliminates the need for drydocking, while providing the ship?s hull with continued corrosion protection, says Jones. An anti-fouling formulation is likely to be copper-based, he adds. The coating is manufactured for Jones Marine by UK-based WJ Leigh & Co.
