Hamburg follows Hapag

As predicted in the July issue of The Motor Ship by Klaus Marek, technical superintendent at Hapag Lloyd, the Hamburg shipowning community has started to follow his company?s lead in ordering electronically controlled engines for their large container ships. Norddeutsche Vermögen (NVA) has ordered two MAN B&W 12K98ME-C engines to power two 8,400 TEU container ships it is having built at Daewoo Shipbuilding on Geoje Island in Korea. The engines will be built by HSD Engine in Korea.
