Kawasaki SB delivers coastal LNG carrier

Kawasaki Shipbuilding in Japan delivered the 2,500 cu m LNG carrier to joint ship owners, Shinwa Chemical Tanker and Corporation for Advanced Transport & Technology (CATT) on July 30. Named Shinju Maru No.1, the 2,936 gt vessel is the first coastal LNG carrier for domestic use in Japan. Kawasaki built the pressure tank cargo section and Higaki Shipbuilding the hull section

Ship particulars are 86.29m overall length, 15.10m wide and 7m deep with a draught of 4.17m. Powered by a Hanshin LH36LA main diesel engine with an output of 1,912kW at 270 rpm, the newbuilding has a service speed of 12.7 kts. The ship will be chartered by Nippon Steel (NSC) on a long-term basis.
