The agreement is for STX to develop and manufacture a complete set of VDR by its own technology while Consilium supplies essential parts for the VDR products. According to the agreement, STX will be in charge of designing, testing, selling, installing and on-board commissioning as well as providing after-sales service. With a state of the art VDR added to the product list of ongoing business such as BMS and AMS, STX now stands high at the field of ship automation systems.

A VDR is one of the main navigation systems, and a mandatory item to be installed on all passenger ferries and over 3,000 ton class ships built after July 2002 in compliance with the SOLAS requirement (Safety Of Life At Sea).

Meanwhile, STX Co (Enginemaker) and MAN B&W Diesel Copenhagen agreed to extend and renew the existing 2 stroke-license agreement for further 10 years.
