Daewoo reveals massive new order
Daewoo Shipbuilding has clinched a 145,700 cubic metre LNG carrier, four 8,400 TEU container ships and two 115,000 dwt tankers at a total value of $586 million. They will be delivered during the first half of 2007. With the latest new orders, the shipbuilder has, so far this year, picked up 44 ships valued at $2.65 billion and brings its total orderbook to 92 ships which keeps the Okpo-based shipbuilder busy for the two and a half years ahead.
The LNG carrier is an option declaration from Kristen Navigation and the four 8,400 TEU container ships are ordered from four companies including Panacea International and Proviso Corp in Panama, while the two 115,000 dwt ice-classed tankers are for a German ship owner.
