CSIC sets up ship design and research center
China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (CSIC), has set up a ship design and research center in Beijing, with a registered capital of $8.2 million. The opening of the center is regarded as very important step for CSIC to improve its ship design and development capacity. This center is jointly established by CSIC, which has a controlling stake, and eight shipbuilding companies affiliated to CSIC.
The design center will mainly work on research, design and development of new high-tech ships and marine research projects, as well as the technical transfer and service related with shipbuilding, said Zhao Zhanjun, general manager of the center. It will also co-operate with government research institutes, academies in addition to naval architect firms world-wide.
According to Zhao, the ship design center is planning to set up branch shipbuilding research and development centers in Dalian, Huludao, Qingdao, Wuhan and Shanghai.
