Lloyd?s Register?s record breaking classed fleet

Presently standing at 113.8 million gross tons (gt), Lloyd?s Register?s classed fleet has reached an all time high having surpassed the previous record of 113.7 million gt held in 1979.

Taking into account world order book share, currently at 21.2 million gt, the combined tonnage of the existing fleet and ships on order far outstrips the 1979 total. The figure today is some 135 million gt, while in 1979, the combined total comprised some 124 million gt.

Lloyd?s Register continues its success in the major shipbuilding countries, with over half of its 21.2 million gt order book placed in Korean yards.
