MISC orders LNG quintet

Malaysia International Shipping Corp. (MISC) has agreed to buy five new LNG tankers from Japanese shipbuilder Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. “I can confirm we have signed up for five tankers,” MISC spokesperson Fiona Pereira said.

MISC, which is a unit of national oil and gas corporation Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas), declined to divulge the cost of buying the new tankers. In August, MISC chairman, Mohd Hassan Marican, said the shipping company will expand its fleet by buying 11 more tankers by 2008.
