HSD produces MAN B&W?s largest ME engine

South Korea?s HSD Engine has just completed trials of the largest ME series engine developed by MAN B&W. The 68,490kW (93,120bhp) HSD-MAN B&W 12K98ME-C diesel engine, weighing 2,075 tonnes and with a length of 25.5m and a height of 14.6m, is to be installed in an 8,400teu container ship under construction at Daewoo Shipbuilding for NVA.

Meanwhile, in mid-October the engine builder was scheduled to test an HSD-Sulzer 12RT-Flex96C ME engine to be installed in a 8,000teu class container ship for AP Moller, under construction at the Odense Shipyard in Denmark.
