New separators from Sasakura

Sasakura Engineering in Japan has developed and launched a range of oily water separators that fully complies with new IMO bilge water rules due to come into effect from 1 January 2005.

Osaka-based Sasakura Engineering is a manufacturer of marine equipment, desalination plants, air-cooled heat exchangers and other environmental treatment systems. The company has produced oily water separators for the marine industry since 1962 and started developing its new SHT range to meet all performance criteria set down for type approval under the EU Marine Equipment Directive and offers treatment capacities ranging from 0.15 m3 per hour to 10 m3 per hour.

The company says it has already secured 10 orders from shipyards both in and outside Japan and delivered a batch of three units to the South Korean shipbuilder Hyundai Heavy Industries in late November.
