B&N Nordsjofrakt confirms trio

With reference to a letter of intent (LOI) announced on 20 October 2004, Aker Yards has now received a confirmation in the form of a firm contract for building of three container carriers for B & N Nordsjofrakt. The contract is worth approximately $188 million and all three vessels will be built at Aker Finnyards in Finland for delivery in 2006.

The newbuildings are intended to operate in the Gulf of Bothnia, between Kemi and Oulu in Finland and Gothenburg in Sweden. B & N and Stora Enso intend to enter into a 15 years charter agreement for the vessels to be carrying special SECU containers (StoraEnso Container Unit). The 15,000dwt vessels will be 188 m long, 26 m wide and carry 155 special size containers each.
