Another Costa contract for Fincantieri

Costa Crociere, a subsidiary of Carnival Corporation, has ordered a 112,000gt cruise ship from the Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri at a cost of $630 million. The new Concordia class ship will be built at the Sestri Penente yard in Genoa and is due for delivery in spring 2007. It will be a sister ship to the Costa Concordia which is currently under construction at the Sestri facility and scheduled for delivery in spring 2006.

The latest order will replace the Costa Tropicale which will be sold in October 2005 to P&O Cruises Australia, also a subsidiary of the Carnival group.

The Costa Concordia and its future sister ship will measure 290 metres in length, carry 3,800 passengers (3,000 lower berths) in 1,500 cabins of which more than 60% will include a private balcony or window.
