Hamworthy wins Chinese orders

Hamworthy has won orders worth $5.2 million for cargo pump room systems to be installed on eight ships being built by Dalian Shipyard in China. Hamworthy cargo pump room systems have been specified for three 74,000 dwt oil tankers for Cosco Dalian, and five 75,000 dwt products tankers for a Singapore-based owner, all on order at Dalian Shipyard. The Singapore-based owner has also contracted two options.

Cosco Dalian?s ships will also use Hamworthy engine room pumps, with a total contract value of over $400,000 for three shipsets.

Hamworthy?s pump room systems for discharging tanker cargoes are complete turn-key installations including cargo control systems. “Hamworthy can deliver both line shaft, pump room and submerged configurations,” Bj?rnemo said. “Several hundred ships are in operation with our pumps on board”.

The Hamworthy pump cargo handling systems for the eight new ships are integrated solutions and include three cargo pumps, drivers, stripping systems and stripping pumps, tank cleaning pumps, ballast pumps, drainage bilge pumps and control systems.

Cosco Dalian?s tankers will be equipped with 28 Hamworthy engine room pumps per shipset, for duties such as seawater cooling, bilge/general service, ballast, hot water circulation. “We have delivered engine room pumps to more than 30 vessels in Cosco?s fleet, and the latest orders at Dalian Shipyard are a testimony to our product quality,” said Patrick Ang, Hamworthy?s sales director for engine room pumps.
