Double tanker order for Dutch yard
Br?drene Klovning Shipping in Haugesund, Norway, has ordered two 4,000 dwt chemical tankers from Volharding Shipyards in Holland. The vessels shall be delivered at the middle and at the end of 2006 respectively, and are intended for trading in Western Europe.
Long-term employment of the vessels has been secured via Wonsild Tankers A/S of Copenhagen, Denmark. The two ships will be owned by a newly established partnership with Br?drene Klovning Shipping as managing owner. The total investment is in the region of NOK 230 million.
The two ice strengthened tankers will be DnV classed and the cargo tanks will be constructed of solid duplex stainless steel and will have a total capacity of 4,600 cubic metres. For safety and environmental protection, the vessels will have a double hull configuration and a powerful bow thruster which can be used for propulsion as well. They will be built at Volharding’s facility in Harlingen.
