K Line in order orgy
Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (“K” Line) has awarded a contract to Samsung Heavy Industries for two 153,200m3 LNG Carriers scheduled for delivery in 3rd and 4th quarter of 2008. These new vessels will be fitted with the GTT Mk.III membrane cargo containment system and will be powered by dual-fuel diesel electric engines giving a service speed of 25.6 knots. The two newbuildings will bring the “K” Line LNG fleet to 38 vessels including 11 managed by the company.
“K” Line has also placed an order for 4 more 8,120TEU containerships for delivery from 2008 through to 2009. These ships will measure 336 metres long, 45.8 metres wide and have a draught of 13 metres.
