HSD gets new name

HSD Engine, the Korean engine manufacturer, has been renamed Doosan Engine Company Ltd at the general meeting of shareholders held today at its head office in Changwon. HSD Engine has been using the name for the past five years since January 2000.

The old company name has been an on-going issue since it was difficult to pronounce and did not quite relate to the parent company. After a new vision called “No.1 Engine in the World” was announced at the opening ceremony in January this year as a pledge to deliver the best quality and services, all the employees were asked to vote whether to change the company name and come up with a new name. It is hoped that renaming the company and using the same group logo will contribute to improving company recognition.

Lee Nam-doo, CEO of Doosan Engine, said, “The renaming of our company will be the starting point for us to increase the value of our company and realize the vision of becoming the world?s number one engine maker through improving the name value of Doosan brands and securing our position as a subsidiary of Doosan Group.”
