Shipbuilding on the Clyde is alive

The latest warship to be launched on the Clyde went down the slipway at BAE’s Govan yard in the shape of the 16,000 tonne landing dock ship, Cardigan Bay. She is the 751st ship to be launched from Govan.

After years of reducing the workforce on the Clyde, the future prospects for shipbuilding are seen as bright especially as the Royal Navy?s carrier programme is becoming clearer and the Type 45 contract is under way.
