A&P Group and Marine Exhaust Solutions (MES), a subsidiary of Diversified Metal Engineering, of Canada, have announced a strategic partnership that will deliver groundbreaking abatement technology to the marine industry in time for Marpol Annex VI.

By replacing the silencer in a ships engine exhaust stack, the MES EcoSilencer technology reduces S02 emissions, removes scoot, airborne noise and noxious fumes that otherwise would be released into the atmosphere. The unique, patented technology utilises advances in seawater scrubbing to achieve dramatic reductions in S02 emissions and provides a perfect complement to A & P?s world leading marine services.

David Ring, CEO of A & P Group, said: “Having witnessed first hand the unique capabilities of the MES EcoSilencer, the A & P Group is very pleased to be in a position to deliver this proven abatement technology. As Europe?s leading ship repair, conversion and marine service company with locations in all major shipping lanes in the UK and Europe, A&P is looking forward to the unique opportunities and benefits that this partnership will bring both our existing and new customers.”

Peter Toombs, President of MES, said: “We have been cooperating with A & P for the past few years and are delighted to be working with a company that has the superior technical expertise and reputation for service to bring this solution to the marine industry. With both companies sharing a commitment to provide guaranteed, quality results to our customers and to supporting efforts for a greener environment, we feel the partnership will be a very successful one.”

The EcoSilencer brings a winning combination of cost savings and superior sulphur reduction to the shipping industry now faced with SECA compliance. The agreement will give A & P Group authority to represent MES on installations, commissioning and maintenance of the EcoSilencer in North Western Europe.
