Two more for Aker yards
Aker Promar, part of Aker Brattvaag AS, will be building an Anchor Handling Tug Supply (AHTS) vessel for DOF ASA at a cost of $48 million. The vessel will be 80 metres long, and 18 metres wide and delivery is scheduled for September 2006. Designed by Rolls-Royce, the newbuilding will have the designation UT 722 L and will be the major supplier of equipment.
Aker Yards will also be building the third Multifunctional, Anchor/Handling/Tug/Supply Service vessel of the Rolls-Royce type UT-712 L to Farstad Supply AS in Ålesund, Norway. This is the second of the two options attached to the contract that was signed by Brevik Construction and Farstad Supply in January 2005.
The agreement for this third UT-712 L with a total value of approx. $40 million has now been made effective and the vessel will be completed in September 2006, following the deliveries of the first two ships in April and July 2006. The hulls for all three Farstad newbuildings will be built at Aker Braila in Romania and outfitted in Norway.
