FPUs next DSME target

As a result of increased activity in deep-sea oil fields, orders for new floating production units (FPU) are increasing. DSME estimates that 166 FPUs are likely to be ordered by 2010. The shipbuilder said that deep-sea oil exploration is particularly active in West Africa, Gulf of Mexico and South America while the Caspian Sea and Sakhalin are also potential markets.

In order to fully capitalise on this potential market, DSME aims to expand its FPSO capability.
