Mitsui Engineering and Shipyard in Japan achieved an all-time record high engine production at its Tamano Work last year. The factory produced 177 engines with a combined output of 3.48 million bhp and exceeded the previous record of 125 engines of 2.57 million bhp in 2003. In order to cope with the ever increasing demand, MES is expanding its production capacity by October this year and aims to produce 191 engines of 3.66 million bhp in 2005 and 209 engines of 4.24 million bhp in 2006.
