Jurong Shipyard in Singapore, a subsidiary of SembCorp marine, has won a contract from Cyprus-based Seatankers, a John Fredriksen vehicle, worth $780 million to build two ultra-deepwater semi-submersible drilling rigs. The rigs will be able to operate in deepwater areas and at depths of up to 10,000 feet including the Gulf of Mexico, offshore Brazil and West Africa.

Construction of the first semi-submersible rig will begin immediately and delivery is scheduled for the first quarter of 2008. The second semi-submersible rig, on a three-month option, takes effect in October with delivery scheduled in the first half of 2009.
