Austal Ships has delivered to a private owner the ?Electra? for operation in the Bahamas.

With the initial design brief heavily based on carrying and deploying a 9 metre, twin engine RIB, ?Electra? is customised as a base for serious diving adventures. Complete with all the necessary equipment to support underwater research and film making the newbuilding provides both comfort and practicality.

Constructed in all-aluminium and equipped with a 4 tonne deck crane and heavy duty stern anchor, ?Electra? is capable of a speed in excess of 18 knots courtesy of twin Caterpillar 3508B, 820kW engines driving propellers.

Austal has also secured a new contract for a 37 metre private vessel. Destined for Sydney Harbour the vessel is primarily designed for private use but will also be certified for charter work along Australia?s East Coast, Whitsunday and Lord Howe Island regions.

The interior layout features a large open plan lounging and outdoor cockpit area that can be opened by way of bi-folding main saloon doors.
