Daewoo wins Qatar quintet

Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) has received an order to build five 210,100 cubic metre LNG tankers valued at $1.20 billion from a Qatari gas producer. DSME?s latest deal means that it has secured nine out of 20 LNG carriers for Qatar Liquefied Gas II since last year. Qatar plans to order a total of 52 LNG carriers by early 2007. Qatar Liquefied Gas II is a venture between Exxon Mobil Corp. and state-run Qatar Petroleum.
