Cochin launches first Clipper
The public sector Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) has launched the first of a series of six bulk carriers for the Bahamas based Clipper Group. The double hulled 30,000 DWT ship, named ?Bossclip Trader?, is 178.70 m long, 28 m wide, has a depth of 14 m and a service speed of 14.30 knots. The shipbuilder also laid down the keel for the next Clipper ship, hull 015, and a fire fighter tug for the port of Jeddah.
Some $37 million will be spent at the yard on upgrading its facilities with state of the art technology and increasing its capacity.
