Dual fuelled Avant PSV

Importer

Norway’s Eidesvik Offshore ASA group has ordered a second Platform Supply Vessel (PSV) of Vik Sandvik’s innovative, superstructure aft AVANT design at a cost of $48.6 million. The new VS493 GASS AVANT will be LNG-fueled.

The vessel will be marketed for long term North Sea and Barents Sea charters and LNG fuel has been chosen to enable it to meet the highest environmental standards. It will be built to DNV “Clean Design” class and will be constructed at Norway’s West Contractors at Olensvag for delivery in August 2007.

The vessel is 92.20 meters long with a breadth of 21 meters. Gross tonnage is 5,600 and the cargo deck area is 1,010 sq.m. Eidesvik says that experience from the development and data from operations of its LNG-fueled ?Viking Energy? demonstrated that high environmental standards are met using LNG fuel. The newbuilding will have “dual fuel” machinery, enabling to also burn diesel fuel. Experience with the first AVANT design vessel with the superstructure aft has demonstrated a substantial improvement in the physical work environment on board.
