Last boxship launch at B+V

A 2,700 TEU containership built at Blohm+Voss, a subsidiary of ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems, was recently launched as the ?Cosco Panama?. GEBAB (Gesellschaft für Konzeption und Betreuung privater Investitionen mbH, Meerbusch) is the ship?s owner while the ship manager will be Maritime GmbH. The 37,950 dwt newbuilding has the distinction of being the last containership to be launched from the Hamburg yard of Blohm + Voss yard as a result of a strategic decision by ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems to rationalize its shipbuilding activities and have B+V concentrate on the construction of mega yachts and naval vessels.
