Nam Dinh builds shipyard

Construction began a few days ago on the Thinh Long shipyard in the northern province of Nam Dinh in Vietnam. The new facility will form part of the Hoang Anh Shipbuilding Joint Stock, a member of Vinashin. Thinh Long shipyard will be the first such facility in the province and will be built at an estimated cost of around VND595 billion ($37.5 million). It will have an annual capacity of six 10,000-15,000 DWT ships and is expected to go into operation in early 2008 and generate thousands of jobs for local workers.
