SLS method improves STX output

STX Shipbuilding in South Korea launched a 51,000DWT product carrier for an Italian owner which was built using the skid launching system (SLS). Shipbuilding period of the product carrier was reduced from 52 days to 30 days through pre-outfitting and improvement in shipbuilding process.

STX claims that the shorter construction times will enable it to build 12 ships per year on land using the SLS system.
