Works starts on southern Viet Nams largest shipyard
Construction of the largest shipyard in southern Viet Nam began in Nhan Trach district, southern Dong Nai province. Vinashin will be investing nearly 600 billion VND ($38 million) in building this facility which will be capable of building and repairing container ships, oil and gas tankers and military ships of up to 20,000 DWT for domestic consumption and export. Vinashin said that the shipyard, which will be enlarged with a wing to manufacture ship accessories, is expected to help it increase the percentage of local content of its products to 60% by 2010.
