Farstad Shipping ASA in Ålesund, through its subsidiary Farstad Supply AS, has signed a contract with Aker Yards to build two platform supply vessels at a total cost of $87 million. The first vessel is a PSV of UT 751E type and the second vessel is an AHTS of UT 712L type.

The hulls for the vessels will be built in Romania and the outfitting will be carried out by Aker Yards Brevik. Delivery of the vessels is scheduled for December 2007 (UT751E) and March 2008 (UT 712L) and this is the 18th and 19th contract between Farstad Shipping and Aker Yards.

The PSV will upon delivery enter into the long term contract that was recently awarded by Norsk Hydro. From start-up in August 2006 the contract will be serviced by the PSV ?Far Symphony? until the new vessel is delivered. The AHTS newbuild is part of Farstad’s general fleet renewal.
