RasGas names last in series
Ras Laffan LNG Company Limited (II), (RasGas (II)), has recently named another of its long term charter ships at a naming ceremony held at Samsung Heavy Industries, Korea.
Named ?Maersk Qatar?, the 145,000 m3 LNG carrier is owned by a consortium between A P Moller and Qatar Shipping. The newbuilding will be delivered into RasGas service at the end April 2006.
The ship will become the 7th and last to join the expanding RasGas fleet and follows a number of sister ships recently delivered from the same yard. The ?Maersk Ras Laffan? was the first A P Moller and Q-Ship vessel to be delivered back in 2004. Under the terms of the time charter agreements, RasGas will charter these vessels for a firm period of 25 years to deliver LNG from existing and future facilities at Ras Laffan Industrial City to its growing portfolio of customers around the world.
