Aker inks UT 755 orders
In a seemingly never-ending ordering frenzy for offshore support vessels, Aker Yards has picked up two more contracts for a total of five UT 755 LN platform supply vessels (PSVs).
An order for four units has been placed by Nordcapital Holding GmbH & Cie. KG in Hamburg, Germany. The value of the contract is approximately $90 million and Nordcapital has an option for an additional four vessels that will have to be declared by the middle of May 2006. The four newbuildings are scheduled for delivery from the fourth quarter in 2007 to the second quarter 2008, and will be built at a combination of the company?s yards in Norway.
The other deal involves one UT 755 NL ordered by Island Offshore VIII KS, a company within the Island Offshore Group in Ulsteinvik, Norway. The value of the contract is approximately $23 million and delivery is slated for November 2007. The hull for this vessel will be built in Romania while the outfitting will take place in Brevik.
The UT 755 LN is 74 metres long, 16 metres wide and has a deadweight of 3,200 tonnes.
