Reefer duo for Eimskip

Importer

Eimskip, subsidiary of Avion Group, has entered into shipbuilding contracts for the construction of two highly sophisticated reefer vessels for a total purchase price of approximately NOK 260 million. The investment is supporting the company strategy to be a supplier of quality services in the North Atlantic and is a part of a renewal for Eimskip?s fleet.

With this new fleet structure Eimskip is will be able to enter into more diversified transportation services, serving temperature controlled commodities such as meat, vegetables, fruits etc. worldwide. The newbuildings will contribute to the extensive transport network in the North Atlantic Ocean of Eimskip and Eimskip-CTG, its subsidiary in Norway. The company received one new reefer vessel last year and this year will receive three more new ships ordered in 2004 and 2005.

The latest 2,500 DWT newbuildings will be constructed at Myklebust Verft AS in Norway for delivery in July and November 2007 and will be owned by Eimskip and operated by Eimskip-CTG. They will be 80m long, 16m wide, have a service speed of 16 knots and will have substantial loading and discharging capacities at about 200 tonnes per hour.
