Western Australia?s government has announced the shortlist of contractors invited to tender for the construction of the first stage of the state?s first floating dock at the Australian Marine Complex in Henderson.

The four short-listed companies are the Ausclad Group of Companies Ltd (AGC), Forgacs Shipyard, John Holland Pty Ltd and Tenix Shipbuilding. The contract is for the first 99 metre section of the dock, which could eventually be up to 230 metres long.

Construction of the floating dock is part of the state government’s $90million upgrade to the multi-user capability at the Common User Facility (CUF) within the AMC. It will provide WA with the opportunity to bid for a whole range of additional maintenance and construction jobs across the marine, defence and resources sectors. The second stage of the floating dock will depend on the federal government’s decision on the location for the consolidation and integration of the Royal Australian Navy’s amphibious ships.
