Samsung and Atlantico sign technology contract
Samsung Heavy industries and Atlantico in Brazil signed a $14 million contract of technology support including construction and operation of shipbuilding facility and ship design.
Atlantico will build a 360 metre drydock at Suape Industrial Complex in Brazil by 2008 for a total investment of $200million. Samsung will provide lay-out of shipbuilding facilities, installation of equipments including crane and other related technology. Once completed, Samsung will provide ship design, quality control, safety, purchasing and shipbuilding skills. Atlantico recently clinched an order for ten 160,000DWT tankers from Transpetro.
Atlantico also has plans to complete the building of a drydock by 2010 to be used exclusively by the offshore industry.
