Aker Promar and Chouest invest in Rio region
Aker Promar reportedly plans to invest $45.7 million in the construction of a new shipyard in the northern region of Rio de Janeiro state. This will be Aker Promar’s second shipbuilding facility in Brazil and will have the capability to build and carry out maintenance on large vessels and oil production platforms.
The US offshore support company Edison Chouest is reported to be investing $4.6 million through local subsidiary Alfanave in the construction of an offshore support base in the Rio region, close to the town of Quissama and Brazil’s oil industry hub of Macae.
