Repsol looks to build five LNG carriers

Spain’s leading oil company Repsol YPF SA and its affiliate Gas Natural SDG SA plan shortly to put out for tender a contract to build a fleet of five LNG carriers. According to the unnamed source, the 25-year contract will be worth some one billion Euros and is the largest ever gas transport contract awarded in Spain and one of the biggest in the world. Spanish shipbuilders Maritima del Norte and Elcano are expected to bid for the contract as well as Norway’s Knutsen.
