Vinashin affiliates sign major contracts
Vinashin Lines Ltd Co, a subsidiary of Viet Nam Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (Vinashin), signed two major shipbuilding contracts. Under the first contract, the Ha Long Shipyard will build one 54,000 dwt bulk carrier at a cost of $30 million.
It was designed by the Shipbuilding Science and Technology Institute of Vinashin, supervised by the Viet Nam Shipping Registry. The shipyard will commence construction later this year and launch the ship by the end of next year.
Under the second contract, the Nam Trieu Shipbuilding Industry will build an additional 54,000 dwt bulker plus one 13,000 dwt. These two contracts will raise the total tonnage of the Vinashin-built fleet to 500,000 tonnes.
