HAVI orders two AHTS

Havila Shipping ASA (HAVI) has entered into a new building contract with Havyard Leirvik shipyard for 2 anchor handling tug supply vessels (AHTS). The cost for the two vessels is estimated at $170 million and delivery of the first vessel will take place in April 2009 followed by the second vessel in September 2009.

The new builds are part of the company strategy of focus on large modern vessels in the AHTS / Sub Sea segment, and to develop the knowledge and competence of running advanced offshore vessels.

The vessels are based on the newly developed Havyard design called Havyard 845. With a length of 92m and a breadth of 22m, the newbuildings will have a bollard pull of approximately 275 tonnes. The design has been developed with focus on the environment and will be built with clean and comfort class, equipment for reduction of NOX emission and other environmental systems. The vessels will also be fitted with equipment for safe anchor handling, a ROV hangar and have the capability of having an A- frame installed in order to operate in the sub-sea construction market.
