Provalys completes trials

Aker Yards has finalized the construction of the LNG tanker ?Provalys? at its facility in France, the former Chantiers de l?Atlantique. With a capacity of 154,500 cubic meters, this vessel is the largest LNG carrier built to date and is the first LNG carrier fitted with a dual-fuel diesel electric propulsion system using essentially the

natural evaporation of the cargo as combustible.

Provalys is also the first vessel utilizing the system of new cargo containment system, the Combined System 1 (CS1), developed by GTT. The problems experienced on the Gaz de France energY in December 2004, related to the adhesion of the secondary membrane which have been solved thanks to a new adhesion technique. The trials performed during the last weeks at sea and on dock have enabled to fully certify the technical performances of the new vessel in every respect.

The ship will be delivered to Gaz de France Group in the next few weeks, after all the finishing work has been completed.
