Shinpetrol goes for twenty newbuilds

The Dung Quat Shipbuilding has won an order from Vinashin Oil and Gas Investment and Transport Joint-stock Company (Shinpetrol) to build ten 54,000 dwt tankers. The 190-metre long and 32.26-metre wide ships will be built at a cost of more than $20 million each. They will be designed by the Vinashin Shipbuilding Scientific and Technological Institute and classed by DNV.

Under the contract, the first cargo ship will be completed and handed over in June, 2008. The others will be handed over at four monthly intervals.

Shinpetrol also signed a contract for ten 22,500 dwt product tankers with the Bach Dang Shipbuilding Company in the northern port city of Haiphong
