South Korea has chosen Samsung Thales to develop weapons and radar systems for a new fleet of 2,300-ton frigates over the next five years, the country’s defence procurement agency said. The country plans to spend $156 million to develop weapons and radar systems for a new fleet of Ulsan-I warships to replace the aging frigates and corvettes. It is planned to deliver the combat systems to the Navy by November 2011.
