Malaysian yard gets local order
Malaysia?s premier dredging and reclamation contractor Inai Kiara Sdn Bhd will purchase a fleet of seven vessels, including two dredgers, from MSET Shipbuilding Corporation Sdn Bhd, a Terengganu based company.
The $28.20 million newbuilding order is the biggest awarded by Inai Kiara to a local shipbuilder and the vessels will be delivered between one and three years. Previously, the dredging company acquired vessels mostly from overseas, including Belgium and the Netherlands. The contract involves the building of a $14 million cutter suction dredger, two tow boats ($2.8 million), three barges ($5.7 million) and a water injection dredger ($5.7 million).
