Another two for Montanari

The number of 110,000dwt Aframax crude oil tankers currently under construction for Navigazione Montanari S.p.A. has risen to six.

The Italian company has commissioned the construction of another two 110,000dwt crude oil tankers in addition to previous four ordered earlier this year in November. The six Aframaxes, which have double hulls and cutting-edge safety and environmental protection systems, are under construction at the Chinese shipyard Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding in Shanghai, for a total amount of $363 million.

The six Aframax carriers will be delivered gradually over the period from October 2008 to December 2009. Montanari currently has 14 tankers under construction: four 50,000dwt product/chemical tankers, four 38.000dwt product/chemical tankers and six 110.000dwt Aframax tankers at a cost of $703 million.
