Vinashin Damen JV

Vietnam Shipbuilding Industry Group (Vinashin) and the Damen Shipyards Group from the Netherlands, which operates 32 shipyards around the world, have signed a joint venture contract. Together they will establish the Damen Vinashin Shipyard (DVS) in Haiphong.

The area of the shipyard comprises of 42 hectares with a 500 metre waterfront. The DVS yard will construct a wide variety of vessels including tugs, workboats, high speed craft and offshore vessels mainly for the export market. The company is an extension of the existing co-operation between Vinashin’s Song Cam Shipyard and Damen and the management of Song Cam Shipyard will be involved in the management of the DVS yard.

The shipyard will employ 400 people and will create over 1,000 jobs with suppliers and subcontractors.
