Damen delivers Qatar pilot boat

Following a contract in the summer of 2006, Qatar Shipping Co. has just taken delivery of the new pilot boat ‘SHAQRA’. The pilot boat is of the standard Damen Fast Crew Supplier 1605 design and will be used by Qatar Shipping Co for its contract with Qatar Petroleum for the provision of harbour towages and pilot boat services at the port of Mesaieed.

An important reason for being awarded the contract was the short delivery time of just over 6 months. Damen Shipyards Gorinchem was responsible for the construction of the boat, the delivery to Qatar and the on-site training of the crew. ‘SHAQRA’ is fitted with twin water jets and has a speed of 29 knots. Combined with Damen’s high quality standards the boat will allow for quick, comfortable and reliable pilot operations.
